German Nationalization

Since 20.08.2021, persons born after the entry into force of the Basic Law (after 23.05.1949) may acquire German nationality by declaration.

This applies to persons who, due to the previously applicable sex discrimination rules in the citizenship law, were unable to acquire German citizenship by birth or lost again the German citizenship acquired by birth.

In particular, they belong to the group of beneficiaries if

– Born after 23.05.1949 and.
– Your ancestors did not acquire German nationality because of unequal treatment on the basis of sex. Thus, especially if:

– You are the child of a German parent and did not acquire German nationality from him, or.
– you are the child of a mother who lost German nationality by marriage to a non-German spouse before your birth, or
– you are a child who has lost German nationality acquired by birth by legitimation because your German mother married your non-German father after your birth
– you are descended from a person entitled to numbers 1 to 3.

Since every case has a different family history, we will be happy to examine your case, especially if you are entitled to acquire German nationality by descent.
